In light of the past few months, this song put me in an instant good mood today, and seemed oddly fitting:

Jonni Mitchell's anthem for the comicbook industry...

They paved paradise, put up a parking lot.

"Rhinestone Cowboy"

I had Bruce Springsteen's film WESTERN STARS on last night, and he closed
the movie with this Glen Campbell classic. Can't get it out of my head, but I'm
not even trying!

"Well, I really don't mind the rain
And a smile can hide all the pain
But you're down when you're ridin' the train that's takin' the long way
And I dream of the things I'll do
With a subway token and a dollar tucked inside my shoe
There'll be a load of compromisin'
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me

Like a rhinestone cowboy
Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo
Like a rhinestone cowboy
Gettin' cards and letters from people I don't even know
And offers comin' over the phone"

Listening to a "Best Of" T. Rex collection today in the car, here's another one that lifted my spirits:

Just watched a documentary about The Boomtown Rats, now
i have I Don`t Like Mondays stuck in my head, it strikes
me that 40+ years later, the song is as apt as ever.

We Didn’t Start the Fire — Billy Joel

Frustrating, since I don’t actually know all the words!

Found the lyrics on YouTube. Odd that I had not realized they’re chronological.

I'm having trouble getting a Bob Weir (of The Grateful Dead) song out of my head lately... Ashes Ashes (All Fall Down). Before that it was Bob Dylan's Jokerman. :^(
