A Design For Life by the Manic Street Preachers.
Been going through a proper MSP revival the last couple of days. Forgot just good they were in the mid-to-late-90s. For all the publicity over Oasis vs Blur in the Britpop battle in the early 90s, I'd say A Design For Life was possibly the best British rock song of the 90s.

My MSP revival has given way to a Housemartins/Beautiful South revival. And I am happy to report that Happy Hour has been jigging and chiming in my shell likes and hippocampus alike these past few days.

Green Haze by Elvis Hitler
I think I last heard this on Dr. Demento 25 years ago at least but it just popped in there today.

(Not that I have much time for the Honours system, but how is he not Sir Jeff by now?)

The guy is so laid back that he's horizontal. I work with a few people who noticed that the band have become known as Jeff Lynne's ELO for the last few years, and were convinced that it was an ego thing by him.
I did set them straight that ex-members had been performing under names like ELO part II and Orchestra (as well as the huge number of ELO tribute acts out there), and this was his way of reclaiming it. Let's not forget, apart from one cover, Jeff wrote all the tunes.
The new CD is enjoyable but safe (I'd love to hear him using strings again on new material).

The other tune I can't seem to shake off is Vehicle' by The Ides of March.
I think it's been sampled on an advert or something, so we don't get to hear those slightly sinister lyrics:
Hey, well, I'm the friendly stranger in the black sedan Oh won't you hop inside my car? I got pictures, got candy, I'm a lovable man I'd like to take you to the nearest star
