"Ex's and Oh's" By Elle King

The young houseguest I had for the past month or so spent much of the time we were out in the car together station-surfing, and it seemed this song was on every one about every nine minutes. I picked up the CD, "Love Stuff" and have been playing that on my own. Enjoyable, tho with a certain sameness. Since "Ex's and Oh's" is the one I have heard most often, that's the one presently stuck in my head.

I'll admit, "Ex's and Oh's" is one of the better new songs I've heard on the radio in the past few months.

This may be a jump the shark moment in my musical life, but Bieber's Love Yourself has been rattling around in my brain.

Worst of all is the realisation that 75% of the song consists of the melody from the first two lines from How Deep Is Your Love. Remember when a song used to progress?

Lately it's been 'Coming Home' by Kaiser Chiefs. I'm not really a fan of their music but i heard the song on the radio and loved it.

"Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" by Kate Bush. A very otherworldly and beautiful quality to it.

My Morning Jacket - "Steam Engine"

I just did the music for my little brother's wedding and this was one of their requests.  Ethereal.

I only listen to modern music on the radio when I'm in the car with my kids... usually I'm listening to "old" music, film soundtracks or even classical music on CD, when I'm on my own.

This summer, two songs have been burned into my brain that I just cannot stop humming. and sometimes keep me up at night, running on a perpetual loop in my head:

Meghan Trainor's "Me Too" and Sia's "Cheap Thrills."

Listen to them from beginning to end, at your own risk!

'All I Think About is You' by Harry Niellson. I heard it played on the radio earlier this week and it's been in my head since. Not such a bad thing cause it's a decent song.

"I'd Die Without You" - PM Dawn

Received a 90's compilation CD as a premium for renewing a magazine subscription, and this is one of the tunes stuck in my head.

I'm A Man- Spencer Davis Group

I'm playing with my dad and a bunch of his old cronies next weekend and have been tasked with singing it. Learning the guitar part is simple but learning all the words has been a task! Now I totally can't get it out of my head.

I'm learning the Chicago version of "I'm A Man" to sing for a gig in a few
weeks!

Running through my head for the last few days is "Tonight is What It
Means to Be Young" from STREETS OF FIRE.

Incidentally, I'm going to propose we learn 25 or 6 to 4. I don't know if any of us can sing it tho.

And we don't have a horn section.
