I haven't read this or BOTD yet, but it's way cool to have TWO John Byrne comics on the same day.

As soon as I have one.

JB,
When you're only working on one monthly comic, do you pitch ideas to DC until something gets the greenlight, do they offer you something else, or a combination of both?

Back when you were doing only Generations 3 you seemed to be not enjoying having less work for the first time in your career. Is it easier this time around?

(Apologies if I'm presuming too much.)

Damn. I hope that "JLA Classified" or the "Next Men" phonebooks or some other project is is solicited soon, otherwise we might be heading into another Byrne-Free zone in about 6 months. Haven't had one of those in awhile. :(

Since our young Mr. Choi is supposed to be something of a prodigy, I
surmised that the quotes were, in addition to the thought balloons, quotes
that he is thinking in the back of his mind as being relevant to the
events unfolding.

Of course, this is just from the Brave New World preview -- I haven't read
the issue yet, so I don't know if the quotes show up in scenes without Choi
in them.

Liked the issue and I'm especially looking forward to see how the story
develops.
Of course, JB's work is top-notch. However, I found the inks to be a bit
inconsistent: although he often complimented JB's style quite well, it seems
Scott coasts a bit with some panels . . . or something. I'm not quite sure
how to put my finger on it.
Anyway, it is my sincere hope that artist and inker get more than six issues
on the Atom to develop a consistent, complimentary style. But from the
sounds of things they may not get the opportunity to do so.

Thanks for this one, Mr. Byrne.

FUCKIN' A!! This book was the shiznit!

JB I really, really, really hope that you will stay on with Gail to illustrate this book. Anyone with half a brain readin issue #1 can see that your artwork and Gail's story are the stuff of legendary comic-making! Up there with your X-Men run with Claremont, or your FF run.

While I hope that you will have a new "big project" soon, as far as I'm concerned your work on the All-New Atom is the next big project!

Hey DC! After Brad Meltzer and Ed Benes run their course on the new JLA, give it to JB and let him run with it!

Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Hal Jordan, and the new Hawkgirl all drawn by JB? Priceless!

I had time to read one book today, and it wasn't my Marvel comics. I just finished reading The All New Atom #1, and I have time to write a few thoughts before I leave for my midnight showing of Pirates of the Caribbean 2.

I don't know anything about the Atom, so this was my introduction to the whole thing, and I enjoyed it very much. The characters were interesting enough to want to see further developments, and there's also some interesting mystery abound. I liked the historic quotes, and none were better than Wile E Coyote's! Great job with the introduction and dialogue, Gail!

On the artistic front, what more can be said? This is some of the finest artwork of John Byrne's legendary career, helped, no doubt, by the very capable inks of Trevor Scott and the coloring of Alex Bleyaert. I do wish John Byrne would be on covers, too, but it's not a deal breaker.

I'll definitely be picking up issue #2 to see where this is going. Good stuff!

BTW did anyone get a 'Jim Lee/Scott Williams' vibe when it came to the art (including colouring)?

I don't know why but I did.
