That is a factor too, it was a mixture between them not leaving him alone
and them lying about whether or not he liked the movie.

I, for one, don't. Even if I did, I'm quite sure that if he's got something of merit to say about the subject, then it could be said without using established children's characters in a pornographic manner. Color me crazy.

I typed out a long passage on what I believed the book ro be about but deleted it. Not read it yet and so my suppositions are hust that. If it becomes available in this country I might chose to buy it or I might not depending on a lot of factors.
However the level of antipathy towards Alan Moore on this board is surprising in it's intensity and vehemence.

Perhaps people don't like Moore because so much of his output has involved taking other people's creations and giving them a veneer of spurious cleverness - like "Look, these stories were written for dumb people, but I'm thinking about them!"

If that's the case it's a shame as it seems to me that they're disliking him based on an assumption about him, one that seems incorrect to me.

For me it's the hypocrisy of pissing all over other people's creations but
when it comes time for someone else to do something with his, he gets all
hyperdefensive about it. Plus, in this case, the ideo of using beloved
children's characters in pornographic stories in order to express "something
to say about sexuality" not only comes across as incredibly self-indulgent
and pretentious, but also sniggeringly prurient and puerile.

I can't comment on Lost Girls 'cause I've not read it. It would have to be excellent to get over my niggles with the idea but I've read excellent work from Moore in the past.
As for hypocricy, well I don't agree. He does use others characters but never claims he's writing Bram Stokers Whilemena Harker and telling the story of Dracule. As I understand it it's the fact that the films are marketed as Alan Moore's From Hell or whatever leading you to assume that what you see is the story he wrote.
You could label the accusation of theft of others creations at Shakespeare to an extent - he used to beg, steal, or borrow plots or characters from history, recent events, legends, other peoples works and use them to create lasting narratives.

It's likely another attempt at cultural deconstruction. What Moore and
his readers will never understand is that it's not just deconstruciton,
it is vivisection.

About V for Vendetta. Moore couldn't stop the film from being made. Atleast what David Lloyd said in interviews is that when they signed the contract with DC to get the story published they also signed away the rights for the material,so that DC could sell the film rights to any studio. I'm not sure about the other Moore work that has been adapted by Hollywood.
