Red Sonja/Claw #2 came out this week, they pulled Red Sonja for me but not the other.  Looks like a stop by the LCS in Round Rock to see if they have a copy tomorrow.

Captain America # 17........I was worried that there seemed to be a drop off of
sorts after the last arc, but this issue was real good.   I've really tried not to like
this book.  The art is too dark & static and it's really an espionage book starring
Captain America, not a pure Cap book.   But I'll be dammed if it does'nt continue
to be a really solid read.   I guess I'm hooked

Ex Machina Special #1......Always a pleasure to see Chris Spouse's art.   Good story as usual from Vaughn.

JSA Classified #11........Not the best Gulacy art, looks rushed.    I  guess I not
really a fan of solo JSA'ers, especially when they don't appear in 2 consecutive
issues of this book ( newsreels & flashbacks don't count! )

CAPTAIN AMERICA #17 - Look forward to this every month.  Best Cap I'VE read (no I haven't read the Stern/Byrne stuff from the 70s)

DAREDEVIL #84  - Another hit for Brubaker.  I'm really enjoying this and I don't even LIKE Daredevil.

ANGEL: OLD FRIENDS #5 -  It's all right.  I probably won't be aboard for the next mini

Batman and the Monster Men: missed it last week. i liked this and will probably get the next, but i'd kinda like to see something more in this vein that's not basically retellings of the golden-age stories but all-new.
Birds of Prey
Black Coat: looks interesting, a masked hero set in the days  of the american revolution.
Conan - Book of Thoth: not crazy about kelly jones art on this
JLA Classified
Justice
Sgt Rock

store was shorted JSA: Classified durn it. JLA Classified and Justice still prove to be better than the main book had been in a while. glanced through Captain America in the store, my imagination or did i see him telling the shield agents to "aim for the head" in shooting the ninjas? also looked through the Man-bat title. a character i liked pre-crisis, but every writer post seems to just want to do a bezerk bestial version and the blurbs for this one suggested more of the same. hard to tell since i really don't see the title character anywhere in the book, just his alter ego of kirk langstrom.

I believe he killed some terrorists early on in the run maybe the first issue . The character and book did not make a big deal about it, so no one else really did. What I mean is it wasn't "Oh what have I done" or " this is the issue where Cap kills". He dispatched some terrorists quickly and moved on.

Actually, now that I think about it, he was pretty angry at the time, and that was noted

and Bucky killed in WWII too.

 QUOTE:
Like I said, I love the stories and will buy the inevitable ESSENTIALS book whenever it's published because it'll contain the first 25 - 30 issues for $16.99, but I'm passing on this overpriced collection.  I'd love to see the Sienkiewicz run in B&W myself.

Can't remember where, I recall hearing that the various artistic tricks Bill the Sink used in his issues were impossible to reproduce in B&W, so there won't be an Essential New Mutants.  (Which is why they opted for the color route.)

Anyway, my list for the week:
Annihilation: Nova #1 (not bad, but I'm hoping that costume change doesn't stick)
Birds of Prey #93 (heck with Ra's Al Ghul - Lady Shiva is the best O'Neil creation ever)
Manhunter #21
Squadron Supreme #2 (hanging in there by a thread)
X-Statix Presents Dead Girl #4 (I really shouldn't be enjoying this but I do)

What didn't you like about it, Victor?  I found it a pretty entertaining read myself.  Sure, it takes place over five issues, but the original origin story took several issues to tell as well; MARVEL SPOTLIGHT 32, MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE 29 - 33, SPIDER-WOMAN 1. I'm curious to see where the upcoming monthly takes the character.  As I've stated, she's one of my favorites.

Hi, Matt!

I felt robbed, you know? Felt the whole series as a "maybe I will tell you
about the truth later..." And by later I mean, buy New Avengers and wait
until 2007 for the Spider-Woman ongoing series.

I hoped for a more clear story.

Of course that's how I felt.

And Jessica Drew has been one of my favorites since I was a kid too!
