Dean Cain's costume is better than I remember it. And I thought Kirk Alyn made a great Clark Kent. All the others (even David Wilson from the dreaded musical) looked more accurate than Routh

I'm not implying it, I'm specifically stating it's there, and believe me, when it comes to homo-eroticism I know whereof I speak. Trust me when I say that this Superman is every gay comic book reader's wet dream (myself included). But it's not the Superman I want on the big screen. The top looks like a spandex muscle shirt that I've seen hundreds of circuit boys wearing, and instead of briefs we have a speedo bathing suit that is more suited to Fire Island than Metropolis. It's almost like they did a Queer Eye for the Super Guy on him.

Wouldn;t this skin tight costume be every woman's dream as well? Does that make it hetero-erotic? Only gay men wear speedos?
I'm really not being obtuse on purpose but I'm not getting it.

Dean Cain never looked like Superman to me....just like a guy
at a costume party dressed as Superman.
Adding the bright red and blue to the movie costume above
makes it look MUCH better! Just look at the boots! You can tell
its Superman just from the bright red boots and hint of RED
cape!
The "S" is too small of course......sigh

The S is definetly too small, but Dean Cain will always hold a fond place in my heart, as others have George Reeves.

You're right in that it could be every woman's dream, but how many
straight guys do you know wear muscle shirts and speedos? I'm
guessing not a huge number. While this look may be appealing to
women too (and I'm not saying it isn't) it's definitely more of a "gay"
look than a "straight" look. At the very least it's more
Metro-sexual than Metro-polis. Does anyone know who designed this
costume? I'm curious as to whether it was a man or a woman.
Ok, I read the article, it was designed by a woman.

Ugh. Maybe it'll turn out OK in post. They are shooting the damn thing on HD NOT film and maybe this is to take care of CGI issues.

overall it is a pretty good take and a lot closer than I had originally feared+++++ I like it. **** There is no longer any reason -- any reason for us, as fans, as consumers, as the people buying the goddam tickets, to accept anything less than an absolutely faithful rendering of the characters we see in the comics. SIN CITY proves this, demolishing every Hollywood lie of the "we have to make changes" variety for all time. Whether this is "close enough" or whether anyone "likes it" is not and never should be an issue. If it does not look like any version of the Superman costume seen in any of the comics, it is wrong. End of discussion.
