Everytime I read anything Todd McFarlane says, I am immediately reminded
of the South Park episode in which people start putting food up their asses
and start crapping out of their mouths.

I know i'd like it if all titles went back to bi monthly and quarterly. If there were more then one story in each issue i wouldn't mind the wait or the increase in price if there was one.
In the important thing I guess, Anthony! But then if I was to go back and apologise for all the things I said in my youth...I'd be here for a very long time;-)
I'd never get anything done if i had to do that :) So on mass sorry to everyone that i was wrong to ..... Now onto the new list of people i can piss off today :)

Can someone tell me what Todd's exact quote is that refers to "growing roses" as I don't know and I can't find it on Google?

Steve, John quotes it a little further back in the thread. Or at least part of it.

Thanks, Darren. Maybe I'm being a bit dense tonight but what does it actually mean - "growing roses"?

I've directly written to Joe Quesada about various issues, and the one time he wrote back, he said to mind my own business without actually saying those exact words. I'm afraid if I apply the Byrne challenge I'll be directly told this time to mind my own business. But good luck with that.

Sometimes I get the impression from interviews that Marvel's people feel that lateness is actually an artistic right.

Maybe good books that are late sell better than bad books that are always
on time.

And good books that sell on time are far more preferrable to those that are late.
Which brings us back to the question Byrne is posing: is the extra time
taken by guys like Ellis, Bendis, Cassady, Hitch and many others really
being used to produce those late comics, or are they being spent on
"extra-curricular activites"?

Why are the books late? Because the creator involved, be it writer, penciller or inker, cannot produce the book in a monthly manner. Period.
Why do we as fans keep buying them? Because we LIKE the books that much.... However, looking at current sales figures, there are a lot of people who just gave up.
Now's the time when those who have those exclusive deals start stepping up and doing the job. You're on a monthly title? Do the job. Get it done on time. No excuses. You wanted this job, so do it.

=============
Warren Ellis is for the most part a pretty fast writer. When his books ship
late, it's the penciller who's the weak link.
For instance, Transmetropolitan shipped on time, every time.
