It appears Marvel's relationship with Fox isn't that good. Even with that, I find this misguided, juvenille and petty.

I feel bad for the current writers and artists on these books. I know editorial interference can make a fun job feel like a grind. But to have your book pulled out from you entirely because the major shareholder in your company is having a pissing contest with the company that's making a film, about your book(sort of), is just insanity.

Are we sure it's not a gesture of camaraderie? Because Fox isn't using the Fantastic Four characters either.

You know I don't care one bit if they stop publishing the FF. Seeing as marvel hasn't published the real FF for a long time. Fox isn't making movies about the real FF either. So no big loss.

Canceling the FF comic has NO impact on the movie at all and if Marvel thinks it does they are delusional (at best). Most of the people through the doors at the theater have no idea FF has been published at any point in the last 25 years anyway. Nor do they care.

Eh, I'll believe it when I see it. I can easily see the card situation having to do with ancillary rights Fox may be exercising with a movie coming out; the Ultimate FF series is hardly setting the world on fire and could be getting cancelled simply due to low sales; and Marvel's current policy with ongoings is to cancel the book and restart the numbering when the writer leaves (assuming they wait THAT long). When Robinson was doing his pre-#1 interviews for his run, I didn't get the impression he'd be sticking around too long.
I could see Marvel taking a break between volumes this time, because the last two restarts didn't do all that much for them (and the one before that was coming off of them just killing off Johnny Storm). Then come back in a year with a new book in the hopes the gap will draw in interest, ala what happened with Thor a few years back or even Peter Parker this past year. Doubt the movie would have anything to do with such decisions, though.

The only thing Marvel is doing, is screwing the people who actually like the current books.
