Cover art:

The site where this is from has a line that says:

"Oh, don't let the halfway decent cover art fool you. The art in these books is completely phoned in."

Fairly odd comment.

I was reading that first post...

"Crasher is a madwoman who loves destruction"?

"Scooter is the smallest. He is a computer whiz"?

What a lame group of characters!

I just noticed that Cy-Kill has only one handlebar in that last panel.

Thanks for posting this.  I wouldn't mind tracking down a copy of this book.  Pretty decent chance I had it when I was a kid!

Nathan- you need to read up on your Ditko!

His objectivist beliefs made him reject many many job offers. So, yes... he drew Gobots.

and Rom.

because those projects somehow agreed with his beliefs. Many other projects that he was supposedly offered he turned down. We often assume that when we see an artist working on something obscure that they are never given any other offers. I don't think that was the case with Ditko.

I'd recommend reading "Strange and Stranger: The World of Steve Ditko"

It's a perfect combo with the Kirby: King of Comics book.

I had both of those when I was a kid!

Boy, GoBots were nowhere near as cool as Transformers...

The promotion behind GoBots, including the name, seems lazy compared to the Transformers (though I'm not sure anyone ever quite got that right either).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Go-Bots come out first?  Or were they at the same time as Transformers?

They were both Japanese properties that were adopted by American companies; GoBots by Tonka and Transformers by Hasbro. I think GoBots may have reached America first, but I could be wrong.

That cover art is horrible.  I'll take less than stellar Ditko over anything more by whomever drew those covers!
