So Lynda Carter was running around on national television in primetime in her underwear? There's the real story!

Would the average person say this guy is in his underwear?

This sounds like over reaction to me. Sure, it's a pet peeve but to me, at least an opportunity to get the right information out there.
I mean, the guy knows enough that he recognizes that there was a change in WW's stars so all this whole situation does, IMO, is give the guy a bad Byrne story.
Wouldn't it have been much better to open this guy's eyes to the misuse of terminology and why one might be uncomfortable with that misuse? I'm obviously working with very little information but if this guy is doing a NY Times piece that includes JB's run on WW he seems like he's doing more than a cursory, generic pass at comic books.
Using myself as an example, I had never thought twice about all the different ways to describe superhero garb. Once shown the negative vibe that so many of them are actually giving, I understood why one might not want to call them that.
If this particular writer cares at all about comics, I would think that he might be understanding of his error and even use his platform to spread the word.

Over reaction. Sure. Because if we don't "over react" to the little parts of the big problem, the big problem will fix itself.Yeah. That's how the world works.
