Just saw this from Jose Marzan:

Comics legend and Inkwell Awards Hall of Fame recipient Dick Giordano has passed away. I give my sincere condolences from the Inkwell Awards family. A statement from Bob layton is below:
"DearFriends & Colleagues,It is my sorrowful duty to announce thatlegendary artist/editor/entrepreneur Dick Giordano passed awaytoday.Few could ever hope to match what he accomplished in his chosenprofession, or to excel while maintaining great humor, compassion forhis peers and an unwavering love for the art form. His unique visionchanged the comic industry forever and all of those who work in thebusiness continue to share in the benefits of his sizablecontributions.I have been honored to call him a business partner, mentor and dear friend throughout the majority of my lifetime. We willnot see his like again.
Regretfully,Bob Layton"

Aw, f*ck.  Leukemia is a bitch.  God rest your soul, Mr. Giordano, and condolences to your family.

I was just going to post in the previous thread to ask if there were any updates on his condition; this is the one I could've done without.

A nice man.  I remember him doing a con sketch of Sarge Steel for me, looking over my sketch book, and giving me a quick drawing lesson.  Four or five years back I commissioned a Sarge Steel drawing from him, which, I probably shouldn't say at this point, I was a little disappointed in.  I'd always intended to ask him to do a few cover recreations.  That opportunity is now gone, which is the least of my regrets at his passing.  Few contributed as much to the industry, and, so far as I can determine, few were so well liked.  When I met him for the first time about 1967, he said that during his time in the industry, trends had always been cyclical, that he'd never seen a trend last as long as the current vogue for superheroes, and that he thought they would soon be out of favor again.  It was one of the few things he proved wrong about, and though I wouldn't have felt that way at the time, I today regret that he proved an inaccurate prophet on that point.
