This book probably has retailers' money tied up for so long with it's inane
delays, I can't blame them for reselling it.

••

Cool! So DC doesn't need to ship the corrected versions?

 QUOTE:

Good fans -- Enjoy reading heroic depictions of superheroes.

Bad fans -- Enjoy reading banal depictions of superheroes

Why can't we have both! It seems only the Bad Fans get everything. :(

I hope not. Despite what I think of the series, I do have customers waiting for their copies. (And, as I noted in an earlier post, I am one of the retailers that did NOT get any of the "potty-mouth" copies.)

Perhaps this is too reductionist but IMO comicbooks fans seem to come in two flavors:

A - People who seek out edifying material.

B - People who seek out non-edifying material.

Edifying material is harder to put together and harder to consume. Actual, brain function is called for.

My retailer didn't get any copies either. And when are the replacement issues coming? 3 months from now? You can't rush quality.

We've had the Golden Age, the Silver Age, even the Bronze Age -- have we now entered the Lead Age?  Surely comics can't sink much lower than this.  I'm appalled - what the f*ck was Miller thinking?!? Or was he even thinking at all?  Who's the (alleged) editor on this colorful toilet paper, and why does he still have a job?  Didn't anybody read this before it got to the letterer?

Hopefully, the right heads will roll over this; at the very least, Miller should have this assignment pulled from his ass, and should NEVER be allowed within 100 feet of a comic book, let alone be hired to write one.

I'm NOT saying that there is no place for a book with characters saying "out of my way sperm bank," or I'm the effin this or the goddamned that.  What I am saying is that that a Batman book, any Batman book is not the place for this.  If Miller wants to write stories about characters who talk the way these people who look somehwhat like Superman, WW, and Batman, fine, let him write a book about their adventures.  But get him off Batman.  Batman is, after Superman, the most recognizable comic book character on the planet.  He should NEVER act the way Miller has him acting.  Wonder Woman is the most well known female comic book character.  She is an icon, and should NEVER be portrayed as he has.

I agree. But Batman has instant "brand" recognition as a comicbook character.

This is the kind of product my boss would say has a "quick rampup to market".

Miller is piggy-backing HIS stories using this concept.

It is because Batman has instant brand recognition, that no creator, Miller included should be(or would be in the real/non comic book world) allowed to portary him as he has

But brands are not static, Aric. They evolve with the time, mores, and fashions.

There a movement at DC that decried long ago to target the "Batman Brand" to a certain type of audience.

I expect that DC wanted to repackage the "Batman Brand" to appeal to consumers of "The Punisher" and "Wolverine" who, IIRC were big money draws about the time the DKR legacy started to kick in.

"I expect that DC wanted to repackage the "Batman Brand""

Trying to make something fresh or more hip, I get.  Don't always agree with it, but I get it.  That is NOT what we are seeing here

When the All-Star line was initially announced it was hyped as DC's version
of Marvel's Ultimate line. So, that might explain some of the artistic license
Miller has taken with the character.

I just kind of think of reading it as a Elseworlds story.
