Okay, I have a suggestion for those interested.
After the success of JB's Art Challenge, it got Gordon (Somers) and I thinking. "What if we crossed this with Johns 'reimaginings' ?"
Once a month a Cover, Splash page, Pin-up or even a random Panel is selected from JB's back catalogue and everyone, who cares to, would be invited to 'reimagine' the piece after their own fashion!
It would ofcourse be a boon if JB could be the person to actually choose which and what image everyone should try and 'reimagine' but if he can't then it'd be just as nice to let everyone take a turn at suggesting something.
So for example; Say the suggestion for Novemeber was "Omac 3-of-4, page #27, panel #1 (Omac leaping onto the Messerschmitt)"
The deadline of the last day in November would be given and everyone would have a go at their version of that panel. Pencils, Inked, coloured whatever but your own version not just the same panel regurgitated.
Could help develop a) working to a deadline b) thinking your way around a shot looking for -another- dynamic option. Feedback can be provided as well.
What do you think?

To this end, I'll ask JB in the Art Challenge review thread if he might be interested in doing so.

The only problem I see with the "panel" aspect is that a panel generally should coincide with the material before and after it. Just taking a "cool" panel and making a "cool" pin-up sounds very early to mid 90's to me. Covers on the other hand can convey a bit of story (yes I realize that doesn't necessarily hold true in today's market). And one doesn't necessarily need to know what the story is about if you are only reimagining what a cover image is trying to portray. On the other hand if one is familiar with the story behind the cover a reimagining could include characters that were not originally used, such as the recent JB reimagining that added Sean to the X-Men/Sauron cover. Taking a panel and converting it into an interesting cover image might be fun tho too. Regardless I'd be willing to try something like this sometime so count me in.

Well if we hear from JB prior to the change in month great. Otherwise We'll select ourselves!
Since George was first on board he can choose first and we'll go down the list like so.
No 'announcing' until the 1st of the month though George! And you'll need to be prepared to recind your 'power' if JB comes forward;-)
