SUPERMANCINEMA.CO.UK webmaster's analysis of the Donner footage:
"Roughly, 30% of Donner material was used in the theatrical cut. 51% in the ABC TV versions and 55% in the International cut. Approx.: 60-70% of Superman II was completed by the end of 1977. Donner only had to shoot the Metropolis battle and key scenes between Superman and Lois."

I've watched a copy of the "Restored International Cut" which splices in
some of Donner's footage and specifies which of the footage in the
original cut was shot by Donner. It's very interesting. Sadly, I don't think
we'll ever get to see what the movie truly would have been like if it was
exclusively a Donner film, but I look forward to the Special Edition he is
supposedly preparing.

I enjoyed Superman 2, although I felt it could be better, so I'm really looking forward to this.

Something my girlfriend noticed while we were watching Superman II was that Lois's hair is a completely different length in the Metropolis scenes as compared to when she is elsewhere in the movie.

Actually, Margot Kidder's hair AND Marc McClure's hair changes lengths
WITHIN certain scenes -- particularly when the Kryptonian villains invade
the Daily Planet offices...

I seem to recall reading, also, that Margot got her teeth -- that's TEETH -- done sometime between filmings, which substantially changed the shape of her face.

It tells us something, I supposed, that these changes in the players' looks are so obvious. A couple of years ago I picked up the Special Edition of "The Big Sleep" and learned that several of the scenes were reshot in whole or in part a year after the original production wrapped. Shots were intermingled seamlessly, with no obvious indication that it took the camera a year to switch from one side of the room to the other!

The thing about Superman II is that Zod and his villians totally look like
they're right out of the early 80's! Like right out of a Pat Benetar music
video!

I like Superman II. Had a very comic book battle, rare for the time.
I think it was often listed as a movie better than the original by many critics.

in the director's cut of 'Superman the Movie' Christopher Reeve has puffy hair in the Fortress when he's talking to Jor-El, but he had slick hair throughout the 'first night out' sequence.
