Ha! Those who wish to have me banned and silenced are real Americans. Funny how so many liberals and progressives are so quick to try and take one's inalienable rights.

You’re still here because, contrary to popular misconception, I don’t ban people just for having opinions at odds with my own. You’ll have to work harder than that.

I was in my thirties before I learned "Pieface", in GREEN LANTERN, was a racial slur. When I was a kid, I thought of it as no more than a reference to his big, round face, like calling somebody "Curly" or "Slim".

I suppose we all learn as we go. Somebody had to point out to Mark Gruenwald that having Captain America's Black partner be called "Bucky" was not the best idea.

If Eskimo Pies are out, I wonder about Girl Scout Cookies. Are those out until they make Boy Scout Cookies too?

And they don't use real Eskimos anyhow. Sad.

As for insults... they have no power if they aren't responded to. I have a fabulous list of insults, but nobody uses them anymore because nobody reacts to be calling a kike, or hook, or hebey*, nor any other racial insults.

I think the only remaining insult I hear is the n-word - and that doesn't count because it's racially insulting in BOTH directions. Obviously, when non-blacks use it, it's horribly insensitive.

But when I hear blacks use it on each other, I wonder how bad can it be that no one else can use it? How can it be both friendly and a deadly insult at the same time?

That's probably a word that should be removed until we can use it in a context as the word "gay" was at the beginning of the last century, i.e., it has one friendly meaning** and no one will ever assign any other meaning to it. Sadly, I dread that day will not be soon.

*I feel no shame quoting these; they're not used anymore that I know of, and I'm Jewish.

**That day might never come, but one can hope. I mean, "Yankee" is no longer a blood insult either.

The Black Community had nearly succeeded in defanging the n-word by making it their own. Then people started taking offense at THAT usage and........

(I’m far from a conspiracy booster, but I did get a picture of a bunch of redneck boobs realizing they were losing that word and pushing White Liberals to get all hot under the collar about its use.)

In Detroit 2007 the NAACP officially "buried" the  N-word . Complete with a funeral procession including horse drawn carriage and wooden coffin. Among the thousands there were R&B and Hip Hop celebs hoping to eliminate the word from their culture.

Chris Rock stopped doing his signature "N***** vs Black People" stand up routine, and his reasoning behind it was that he felt that it gave racists license to use the word.

Even today, I see white people on the internet bemoaning, "Rappers say the N-word in their songs, why can't I say it?" Why do you want to use that word so badly?

They are knocking down statues and killing old brands in an effort to get Colin to stand up during the National Anthem.

You asked "What's the way outta this?"

It will be when Colin stands. But knocking down statues and killing old brands is only the tip of the iceberg.  Colin had to know that he would probably be kneeling for the remainder of his career when he started kneeling. Either that or he didn't think it through.

And on people being offended, too many believe that being offended gives them power.

No. People believe that staying silent gives bigots power. And since we're discussing racist imagery that's been around for over 100 years that companies are only just now acknowledging as wrong, I don't see how one can argue against that.

I'd like to see the N-word erased.

You know what would be a good start? Radio stations refusing to even play an edited version of a song that includes it. Or even an alternate version. Sort of like how Cee-Lo did "Fuck You", but the radio friendly version is "Forget You".
