I've had quite a few dogs in my long life. My grandfather used to breed Beagles when I was a kid, so every spring, there were DOZENS of puppies around to play with (his operation would be put out of business almost immediately today -- I've seen "Animal Cops" -- I know what puppy mills are). We had one old bitch that ended up our family dog -- Midge. Midge was cool girl, except she had the wanderlust, going on ever longer and longer journeys, until one day she never came back. (Family legend tells of Midge still roaming around to THIS DAY, some twenty-five years later, and any one of us might open our back door to find her sitting there, thumping her tail and looking for dinner.)
Beagles are better as pack dogs (and more fun that way, too). They're happy, yappy, don't take no crappy. Some say they know how to fly Sopwith Camels, play short-stop and write the great American novel, but I think that's an exaggeration.
Betty is a beagle/corgi mix. She has the beagle markings, but the Corgi body-type. She has the beagle's lovability, but the corgi's temperment. She's a chewer and a mischief-maker and I hate seeing her in a cage!!!!!
Anyway... what was the point I was making with this post? I'm worried about her. And I love her. And I've only had her in my life for two weeks!
